ROLE: Founder (2008-2011)
PROJECTS:
- Dance School: A dance school based on contemporary Indian styles for adults and children.
- Radio Show: A radio show at the University of Waterloo to promote the Bollywood culture.
KEY DELIVERABLES:
- Transformed a vision into a successful local Bollywood dance school which generated profits within the first year of operations.
- Expanded the business strategy to include various initiatives such as a radio show, book club, and fundraiser, to capture new markets and to broaden the customer base.
- Applied project methodologies and ‘customer success’ attitude to ensure exceptional delivery of professional services.
KEY LESSONS LEARNED:
- To have a stronger marketing analysis and pricing strategies for the expansion of Bollyworks.
AWARDS:
- Won the “40 Under 40” award for solid involvement and impact in the region.
- Was nominated for the Gowlings New Business Award and Waterloo Region Small Business Award.
PROUDEST ENTREPRENEURSHIP:
I am proud that I pursued my entrepreneurial dreams and Bollywood passions to create Bollyworks. It was the first organization in the Waterloo region to promote the Indian culture. It was also an honor to be recognized as "40 under 40" and in the local newspaper for Bollyworks' contributions in the community. These awards motivate me more to serve humanity to the best of my abilities :).
